Tyrone, Carl, Nassim, and Todd walked to the dining hall, which was a five-minute walk from their trailer. The dining hall was located in several large tents. The kind of tents people used to hold outdoor wedding receptions. They picked up their plates and utensils and stood in line to get served their dinner. Once they inched their way in the line to the servers, the delicious aroma of the food made Tyrone’s stomach growl. He hadn't eaten all day, so he was ready to gobble up whatever kind of food was being served to him.

The server spooned him out a healthy serving of cornbread, mashed potatoes, roasted chicken, and green beans. After he and his bunkmates got their food, they found an empty table and began eating.

Tyrone gobbled down his food faster than his bunkmates. Their jaws dropped as they stared at Tyrone in awe, who was eating his meal as if he hadn’t eaten any food in a week.

“I guess you haven’t eaten in a while,” Carl said jokingly.

Tyrone chuckled while swallowing the last morsel of food from his plate. “I haven’t eaten anything all day. Plus, this dinner is delicious. The cooks are amazing.”

Todd leaned back in his chair and cocked his head. “They feed us well here. Some days they feed us southern soul food, some days Italian, some days Asian, and so on. They give us a wide variety of food so we can function at the best of our abilities.”

Tyrone washed down his food with a glass of iced tea and asked, “So why did you guys join the Sons of the Patriots?”

Carl took a sip of his water and ran his hand through his hair. “The FPF burned down my house and chased me, my wife, and our daughter out of our neighborhood. We were homeless, living on the streets for weeks. We finally got in touch with her sister that lives in Virginia. Her sister picked them up, but I felt compelled to get payback against the FPF and Thurman. So I joined up.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, Carl. I went through a similar situation, so I know what you are going through.” Tyrone turned to Nassim. “How about you?”

“My parents used to own a successful convenience store. One day, the FPF waltzed in and just started taking anything and everything they wanted without paying. I tried to stop them, but they threatened to shoot us if we intervened. They eventually cleaned us out of everything within a matter of days and put my parents out of business. I am determined to make them pay for taking away our livelihood.”

“I’m so sorry to hear that, Nassim. Hopefully, if or when things get back to normal, your parents can reopen the store,” Tyrone said, encouraging Nassim that his family would get their business back. “How about you, Todd?”

“When the White House got bombed, it lit a fire under me. It showed me it’s possible that Thurman can be taken out and we, as citizens, can restore this country to its greatness.
